Featured Project- Hilton Siding Retail Centre
Lightpath Property Solutions, in partnership with Meridian Energy, successfully delivered a flagship hybrid solar and battery project at the Hilton Siding Shopping Centre in Hilton, KwaZulu-Natal. Designed for high performance and long-term energy security, this project reflects Lightpath's ability to engineer and implement sophisticated clean energy solutions for the commercial property sector.
The installation features 720 Tier 1 Jinko 550W solar panels, delivering 396 kWp DC, and three 150 kW hybrid inverters, providing a combined 450 kW AC output. In addition, the system includes two containerised battery units with integrated HVAC systems, offering 1.2 MWh of high-voltage energy storage to enhance grid resilience and reduce diesel reliance.
With an estimated Year 1 solar yield of 528,200 kWh and generator displacement savings of over 438,000 kWh annually, the system delivers immediate operational and financial benefits. The solution was delivered as a fully engineered, insured, and grid-compliant turnkey EPC project, valued at R13.98 million.
From a financial standpoint, the system offers compelling returns, with an internal rate of return (IRR) of 35.26%, a net present value (NPV) of R48.4 million, and a payback period of under three years. By significantly lowering diesel costs, stabilizing energy tariffs, and contributing to the shopping Centre's carbon reduction goals, the Hilton Siding project stands as a powerful example of Lightpath's commitment to delivering sustainable energy with measurable commercial returns.
